Chances are if this instructional article title has caught your eye you have not cleaned out your care in awhile. The good news is you actually protect the environment while not cleaning it that often.
However, it can be hard to be comfortable even driving it if it is too filthy. The less you clean your care the less water you waste, but this job has to be done at least once in awhile.
Car Cleaning Guide-Interior
These tips are for cleaning out the interior of your car. This requires some definite plan of action. You can best accomplish this task using the following steps:
- Take out all the trash from your car. This includes all those Mc Donald’s bags, coffee cups, and other convenience food items. It also includes any and all trash that is laying on the floor of your care as well as on the empty passenger seats, especially in the back.
- Remove and clean the floor mats. This job is easiest if the mats are rubber. All you need to do is hose them down and/or wipe them with mild detergent or other cleaning soap and water and then rinse. You can put baking soda on them and let them sit for awhile if you want too, and then scrub them off and then rinse them. This will help refresh them and get rid of foot odor, among other nasty smells.
- Wipe all interior surfaces. This includes the plastic or vinyl dashboard or seat upholstery. If your care is upholstered with leather you should use the appropriate leather-cleaning solution. Otherwise, just a damp cloth and water is find. If areas such as your dashboard are exceptionally dusty, you may want to wipe with a dry cloth first in order to create a wet mud pile while cleaning your car.
Clean the interior windows. This can be done with either a non-fibrous cleaning cloth or paper towel and ammonia water or just plain water. You might also be able to get away with using vinegar water. After the washing you should wipe it dry immediately to prevent any streaking. If you want to be sure you do not leave streaks, you could also use folded-up newspaper or that unbleached brown paper towel to ensure no streaks or fibers are left behind.
Care Cleaning Guide-Exterior
Cleaning the exterior of the car is thought to be more fun than cleaning the interior of the car. Some of these tips below can help you make the most of this experience:
- Park the vehicle on the lawn. This will ensure that the water you use will infiltrate into the lawn versus be drained to the sewer drain on the side of the curb. This is just one environmentally-friendly tip that you cannot pass up if you want to conserve and preserve.
- Use biodegradable soap. This is to ensure that the water that absorbs into your lawn is safe for the lawn and safe for the environment. It will eventually be recycled by nature and used to fertilize your lawn. Find an environmentally-friendly soap to use for this purpose. Check the soap labels or ask the vendor from where you purchase your soap for more info.
- Fill up and use only a bucketful of water. One solution often used calls for is a small dap of both Seventh Generation dish soap and laundry soap mixed together. Usually about a 1/3 cup dish soap and 1/4 cup laundry detergent is recommended for this, and this can be placed into a gallon of water. This should be enough solution to clean your whole car if you use it sparingly.
- Clean the body of the car. The above solution can be used to clean the body of your car. Usually a mild rage or scrubbing device soft enough to be used on car body surfaces works the best. Try the scrubbing device in an inconspicuous spot just to make sure it will not ruin your paint job, then work it!
- Clean tires, hub cabs, etc. A mild abrasive natural solution such as a baking soda and water paste is recommended if you want to do it the environmentally friendly way. Vinegar and borax paste also would work quite nicely as a way to get dirt out of the grooves of tires and out from around and over the rims as well as the spaces between rims.
- Wax your car. Usually a carnauba wax is one of the most eco-friendly though it does have some harmful substances in it. Optimum Car Wax is another option for you that is even more environmentally friendly.
